Ledger Live is the desktop and mobile companion app designed to manage your Ledger hardware wallet and cryptocurrency portfolio. It connects securely to Ledger devices (like Ledger Nano S Plus and Ledger Nano X), enables sending and receiving crypto, staking, managing apps, and keeping firmware up to date — all from a single interface.
Quick note: Always download Ledger Live from official Ledger sources listed below. Never install unsigned copies from unknown websites.
Ledger Live is available for:
Visit the official download page above and choose the installer that matches your operating system. The official download link uses Ledger's website and includes checksum information when available — verify checksums if you are extra cautious.
Run the .exe and allow the installer to complete. If Windows blocks installation, confirm you downloaded from ledger.com.
Open the .dmg, drag Ledger Live to Applications. On first open, macOS may ask you to confirm that the app is from an identified developer.
Make the AppImage executable (chmod +x LedgerLive-*.AppImage) and run it, or follow your distro's packaging instructions.
Search for Ledger Live on the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. Install and open the mobile app to pair with your Ledger device later.
Open Ledger Live and choose Get started. Connect your Ledger device via USB (or Bluetooth for Ledger Nano X). Follow on-screen prompts to select whether your device is already initialized or if you need to create a new wallet.
If you already have a recovery phrase (24 words), choose Restore device and follow the safe restore procedure. If your device is new, follow the on-device instructions to generate a secure 24-word recovery phrase — write it down on the recovery sheet provided with your device and store it offline.
Once your device is connected and unlocked, use Ledger Live to add accounts for different blockchains (Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, etc.). Ledger Live supports dozens of coins and tokens. For some chains, third-party integrations are used — Ledger Live will prompt you when a third-party wallet needs to be opened.
Ledger Live uses a manager to install blockchain-specific apps to your Ledger device. Installing an app does not move your funds — it merely adds the software necessary to sign transactions for that chain.
To receive funds, open the appropriate account in Ledger Live and click Receive. Confirm the address on your device screen — always compare the address shown in Ledger Live with the one displayed on your physical Ledger device before sharing it.
Click Send, enter the destination address and amount, then approve the transaction on your Ledger device. Ledger's secure element ensures that private keys never leave the device.
Ledger periodically releases firmware updates. Ledger Live will notify you when a firmware update is available — follow instructions precisely and ensure your device remains connected and charged. Firmware updates improve security and compatibility.
Ledger Live offers built-in staking for supported blockchains — allowing you to stake assets like Tezos, Ethereum (if supported), and others directly from the app.
Integrated third-party partners enable buying crypto with fiat and token swaps inside Ledger Live. Third-party services may have KYC and fees — review terms before using.
Try a different USB cable, verify the cable supports data (not just charging), or reboot your computer. On macOS, ensure permissions for USB devices are granted.
Open the Manager in Ledger Live and install the required blockchain app on your Ledger device. Then use Add account to re-index the account.
